Our Instructors
Advantage Point Test Prep is mainly composed of a group of Cleveland-area test prep instructors who have each spent at least three years at Princeton Review, Kaplan, Huntington Learning Center, or other tutoring companies and at least two additional years in other test prep settings.* In addition, we are all certified teachers in the state of Ohio. We have helped hundreds of students reach their ACT and SAT goals. All of us have received scores in the 95th percentile or above on both the old and new SAT and the ACT. Several of us also received “Teacher Excellence” awards at our former companies.
In recent years, we have also hired some exceptional college students to join our team. These students scored a 34 or above on the ACT and know exactly how to connect to high school juniors and seniors. They are dynamic, relatable, and truly know the ins-and-outs of test prep.
*All instructors left Kaplan or Princeton Review at least a year ago. Therefore, our non-compete agreements have expired, making us legally able to work for our own company.
Our Mission
While we loved our time at those big name test prep companies, we were disillusioned by the sheer expense of their programs. The SAT and ACT tests were originally created to level the college admissions playing field–to create a standardized, unbiased indicator of a student’s ability to succeed in college. We watched as test scores that were supposed to be fair predictors of student success often became more accurate indicators of student income. We therefore decided to create our own company, offering very similar products at dramatically cheaper rates as well as need-based tuition waivers and sliding scale payment options. Locally, we offer private tutoring, small group tutoring, and classroom course programs. Nationally, we offer several powerful and affordable products for ACT and SAT test preparation. Devorah Goldblatt
Executive Director
Devorah received perfect scores on both the ACT and SAT and has 9 years of test prep experience. She spent 4 years teaching SAT, ACT, GRE, and LSAT test prep at Kaplan Test Prep, where she received a Teacher Excellence award in 2006. Devorah has headed Advantage Point since 2007. She is the co-author of Boost Your Score: The Unofficial Software Guide to the Real ACT (available on Amazon here), Boost Your Score: Undercover Calculator Programs for the ACT (available on Amazon here) as well as Boost Your Score: The Unofficial Software Guide to the SAT (in development).
